It must have had something to do with the way my home looked the whole two weeks that I felt that I was living in a chaos-filled world. Something popped and I went on a cleaning spree that left my home clean as a whistle. The feeling of living in an almost-brand-new-looking home was so overwhelming that I wondered if I should invite some friends over for a party – just to celebrate the cleanliness.
Living in a clean house or the action of mopping and cleaning away the grime actually invigorates the soul, according to some psychology paper about getting yourself organized...at least once every two weeks. Twice a month isn’t too much to ask for, really. It seems as though organized people, whether in the office or in the home, enjoy far greater success than people who are messed-up.
In fact, we might go as far as to argue that those who live in a messy house tend to have a messy financial situation because there’s just so much waste everywhere, which includes a messy set of accounts. Now, do YOU have a system that helps you organize all of that so that you, not only have a well-organized life but a well-organized bank account as well? If you don’t, perhaps it’s time.
When you’re not swamped with a long list of outdated to-do list, you’re less likely to suffer from high blood pressure. Really, it’s true. We all know that high blood pressure and stress can really age a person! And we don’t want that. When you’re organized, you’ll also know what your priorities are and have time to tend to them. It could be something simple like reading a book, a walk in the park or finish a bookscraping project that you’ve been dying to complete.
Being organized also leaves you with more time to be with your friends and family members. Be strict about your time and responsibilities. When you waver from your basic principle or your system, you’ll soon find yourself loping back into being a stressed out disorganized person…not to mention no time for yourself, your friends and family.
Spontaneity is good but in a controlled manner. I know it sounds silly to say that but it’s true. There’s a time to be controlled and there’s a time to be Billy Crystal silly and funny. This rings particularly true for purchases. Organize your trips to the grocery store and you’ll find yourself spending less than you would have if you had gone there on impulse.
When you’ve worked your way to doing up a list to complete on a daily basis, trust me, you’ll feel better about the way you work, live, play and enjoy yourself.
And what does THAT translate into? A happier person and a happier person is always the kind of person that resonate youthfulness, boundless energy and enthusiasm. Dab a little anti-aging fragrance on your way out and you’ll feel the bounce in the way you walk every single step of the way.
